Happy Thanksgiving

In many ways it seems that Thanksgiving is one of the holidays we celebrate that might draw us close to God than any other. I pray that the sentiments of these verses will be yours and that you will grow into them during this season.

1 Thessalonians 5:15–18 (NLT)

15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

16 Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.

GROW 2021

The following message was sent to us by the Central Church of Christ in Winnipeg. It’s copied here for your information.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Hello from the Central church of Christ in Winnipeg, Manitoba! We want to invite your congregation to the second annual spiritual Growth, Renewal, and Outreach Weekend (GROW). GROW 2021 is scheduled on Friday, April 30, until Sunday, May 2, exclusively online via Zoom.

This year’s theme is “Discipleship: Going Viral” (Matthew 28:18-20), as we pursue a missional revival even in the midst of a pandemic. Our guest speaker is David Young, Senior Minister at the North Boulevard Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, TN. It is our hope that David’s presentations will help us refocus on and re-prioritize our disciple-making mission in our congregations.

Here are the event poster, PowerPoint slide poster 1, and PowerPoint poster 2. Please feel free to print and post on your church bulletin board or include in your PowerPoint announcement loop during worship to help promote the event. We’d love it if you would post the GROW 2021 social media poster on your congregation’s social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, etc) to promote the event to your communities. Also, please forward this email to anyone you think would benefit from this event. Please note that all the timings on the schedule are in Central Standard Time.

Registration is now open at winnipegchurch.ca/grow2021. There is no cost to attend and registration is free. Each participant will receive a confirmation email after registering, which includes the Zoom link for the entire weekend.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact either Myles McMillan or Jay Manimtim, ministers at Central church of Christ, by email at myles.macmillan@winnipegchurch.ca or jay.manimtim@winnipegchurch.ca, or by text or phone at (204) 461-2786 or (204) 515-7415.

Grace and peace,

Getting Back Together

On June 14 we will be meeting again at the church building. We are anxious to be together. We want to do everything we can to ensure that we are safe while together. Here are some guidelines we want to follow.

  1. There will be only an 11:00 am meeting with no classes.
  2. We will practice physical distancing. Chairs have been placed in clusters. We encourage visiting to happen outside while maintaining a safe distance from those not in your household.
  3. The building has been cleaned. Hand sanitizer is available.
  4. Care has been taken to do communion in a way that will reduce contact. No passing of emblems or trays. etc.
  5. If you have any questions, please give us a call at 613-546-5409
